Desalination
US Desalination's Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Process
In the natural course, osmotic pressure drives water from lower dissolved salt concentration to higher, but our Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) process turns this tide. By applying pressure, we guide water through RO membranes, removing over 99% of salt and minerals to create fresh water from half the intake.
The SWRO Journey:
Seawater Intake: Our process begins with drawing seawater from the ocean.
Filtration: Seawater goes through filtration, ridding it of floating impurities.
RO System: Seawater under high pressure flows through RO membranes, letting fresh water pass while excluding salt and impurities.
Fresh Water Output: Around 50% of processed seawater transforms into high-quality fresh water.
Brine Concentrate: The remaining seawater emerges at high pressure, carrying rejected salts. Its energy is transferred to incoming seawater, reducing overall energy demands.
Continuous Operation: Our desalination facilities run 24/7, ensuring a constant water supply.
Cost Trends Redefining Desalination:
The SWRO technology has evolved into a cost-competitive water supply option in recent years, offering an efficient solution for sustainable water production.
